Education Reform Now - Advocacy is a 501(c) (4) organization affiliated with Democrats for Education Reform. ERNA is calling for a solution that avoids a strike and does what is best for Chicago's children.
Rebeca Nieves Huffman, State Director
Rebeca is a mother, a former educator and lifelong Chicagoan who has spent her career working to build better schools.
For the last 11 years, Rebeca has worked across the country for organizations with national scopes and local reach into many states, so she is thrilled to apply her national experience in her home turf as the Illinois State Director of Democrats for Education Reform. Most recently Huffman was a Vice President at the National Association of Charter School Authorizers (NACSA) where she managed the communications and outreach efforts of the organization. Before joining NACSA, Huffman served for 5 years as President and CEO of the Hispanic Council for Reform and Educational Options (Hispanic CREO). Prior to serving as Hispanic CREO's President and CEO, Huffman was the Associate Director of Recruitment and Selection for the KIPP Foundation. Huffman serves on the boards of Education Sector, Noble Network of Charter Schools, 50CAN and City Year Chicago. She is also a proud alum of the Aspen Institute's Entrepreneurial Leadership for Public Education fellowship program which identifies and strengthens the next generation of leaders within the K-12 education sector. Huffman became the first in her family to attend and graduate college by earning a bachelor's degree in marketing communications at Columbia College Chicago. A native of Chicago, Huffman resides in the Windy City with her husband and their two children.
Angela R. Rudolph, Policy Director
Angela Rudolph is a native Chicagoan, a former educator and a policy guru with a long career focused on improving education in Illinois. Most recently Ms. Rudolph served as a Program Officer with The Joyce Foundation's Education Program. A former elementary school teacher, Ms. Rudolph previously served as special assistant and policy advisor to former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and as the Education Director at the Chicago Urban League
Ms. Rudolph serves as Vice-Chair of the Illinois Charter School Commission. She holds a master's degree in education policy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor's degree in American history from Union College in Schenectady, NY.
